9.     Lack of identification:  “Business person or hobbyist?

There are too many people who are trying to do business in an industry they do not understand. If music or poetry is your “hobby” that’s OK that’s not a bad thing. But make sure you identify that from the beginning. Don’t claim to be in the business if you are not ready to educate yourself in the business.

“The price of education is greatly outweighed by the cost of ignorance”

– Darren Scott Monroe

What I mean by that is that a business person doesn’t complain about the cost of an book, conference, or any other educational materials or services that help them.  They immediately recognize the value. They understand the why factor and are able to capitalize on the education with a high rate of return on their investment (ROI)..

The Soul and Poetry community needs more participants that clearly define themselves.

10.     Regional Thinking in a Global Market

I remember a conversation I had with a marketer. Once this guy realized that I didn’t live in his city he began to cut the conversation short. From that point on he no longer networked with me. His organization was non profit and needed as much support as they could get. A major mistake! Whether it be 4DaSoul or any other websites people in the Soul Music and Poetry community need to realize we reach the world. Why would you limit your thinking to your region? Your DMA? Your city? Thanks to the web you can reach the world for free. It’s like pulling an airplane. The Soul community business needs to begin to work hard at working smart.

What is killing both the Soul Music and Poetry industries is the clandestine approach that marketers, promoters, artists, managers, publicist, labels and even websites use regarding their reach.

Though 4DaSoul is based in Las Vegas we have staff around the world! Our real home is located in the homes of our visitors. Why reach the roof when you can grab the stars?
